We established Kamalpokhari Boxing Club in Kathmandu in 1970. This was first registered club in the history of Nepal. I was Member Secretary and Boxing Instructor up to 1978. We had given boxing training to the fourteen campus students of the Tribhuvan University to make loyal to the King and country with the help of Home Minister Mr. Khadga Bahadur Singh and Back to Village National Campaign Member Secretary Dr. Mohammed Mushin. Every year we had to train two boxing team to participate in the Bagmati Zonal, National Tournament, and on the occasion of King’s Birthday.
We organized a boxing show match in Kathmandu, Rastriya Sava Griha (Nation Assembly House) in 1972. Boxers were from India, Pakistan, Burma, and Nepal. In the match, I challenged to fight in boxing in fly weight in Nepal. Since 1972 to 1978, I was unbeaten boxer in Nepal.
We established Bagmati Zonal Boxing Association in 1973. I was Vice Chairman of the Association up to 1978. We used to organize Zonal level boxing tournament.
We established Nepal Boxing Association in 1975. I was first Member Secretary of the Association up to 1978.
I did nine thousand escaping rope non-stop at the Kamal Pokhari Boxing Club in 1978 counted by the then President Mr. Laxman Shumsher Thapa, Joint Secretary Mr. Suresh Singh Thapa/Ale, and International Boxing Refree/Judge Mr. Manju Jung Thapa of the Boxing Club. The whole ring was wet with sweat even from the knees.
I participated in the 8th Asian Games in fly weight in 1978 which was held in Bangkok. I was defeated. But, the then Member Secretary Mr. Sharad Chand Shah requested me to do boxing practice for 1980 Olympic Games. I refused to practice the event, saying, I cannot win due to so many thing on the one hand on the other I had registered my name for Ph.D. I also declared that I would convert my physical energy into research and development field. Hence, I had to give up the games.
I was also boxing and Swimming Instructor at the Rastriya Seva Dal (NCC) in Nepal Army from 1970 to 1978. I stood second position in 100 meters in the tournament and American stood first which was held on auspicious occasion of King’s Birthday.
I was Chief Judge, Judge, Referee/Umpire in Boxing Tournament from 1970 to 1979 regularly.
